After the Bite: Rooting for Comebacks (Even in a Botanical Crime Scene)

After the Bite
A few weeks ago, a deer climbed into my window well and devoured 75% of my MARS grapevine.
She snapped branches, crushed leaves, and left behind what looked like a botanical crime scene.
I was so mad I couldn’t even pretend to be spiritually graceful about it.
(Let’s just say… that deer and I are no longer on speaking terms.)
But instead of giving up, I did what gardeners, mothers, and hopeful humans do:
I gathered the broken pieces and placed them in water.
I trimmed them gently. Spoke softly to them. Added a little willow water.
And waited.
And then… a root bump appeared.
The Power of the Comeback
The mama grapevine is recovering.
Another one I thought was long gone? Sprouting new leaves.
Even the arugula I tossed in a pot from last year’s pods is thriving like it’s got something to prove.
Not everything can be saved. But sometimes, even after the bite, the break, and the storm — something survives.
And when it does, it whispers truths we all need to hear:
💚 Healing takes time.
💚 Growth often begins in the mess.
💚 Miracles start with tiny white bumps.
What’s Rooting in Your Life?
This isn’t just about plants.
It’s about all of us.
The overlooked shoots.
The quiet comebacks.
The people who keep going when they have every reason to quit.
If that’s you?
I’m cheering for your root bump too.
